The Department of Transport and Supply Chain Management at the University of Johannesburg proudly presents to you volume 16, 2022, of the Journal of Transport and Supply Chain Management (JTSCM), accredited publication in South Africa. This journal is the only of its kind in South Africa.

This year, as part of volume 16, a number of special edition articles, concerning the impact of COVID-19, are included in the overall publications.

The special edition (as a first for this journal) focusses on the travel impacts of COVID-19, the role of third-party logistics service providers during COVID-19, resilient supply chain-lessons from the impact of COVID-19 and supply chain disruption recovery, to name a few.

Besides the Covid-19 articles the following are interesting topics that are dealt with in this volume:

  • digital agriculture value chain
  • fast moving consumer goods
  • preferential procurement in Gauteng government departments
  • sustainable supplier selection factors
  • remediating sub-Sahara Airline challenges
  • urban freight characteristics and externalities
  • managing reputational risk during supply chain disruption
  • five-stage downstream oil supply chain
  • the role of seaports in regional development.

The editorial group of this journal would like to extend their thanks to all the authors and reviewers (national and international) who have worked so hard to make this an interesting and varied publication.
